Gnome with pekwm as WindowManager ?

Hi,
is that possible?
Since pekwm has no --replace option I disabled automatic restart of metacity in gnome and tried

killall metacity && pekwm

but that gives me

pekwm: root window unavailable, can't start!

Any hints?

TIA

Re: Gnome with pekwm as WindowManager ?

Maybe you need to run Nautilus without the desktop function.

gconf-editor
/apps/nautilus/preferences
show_desktop

Re: Gnome with pekwm as WindowManager ?

Thx for the tip!

I tried that and even killing nautilus completly just for a test before launching pekwm.

Same result.

If I try the other way around aka starting
pekwm in .xinitrc and afterwards gnome-panel and nautilus manually I don't get this error but I do get the nautilus (gnome) menus
on right and middle click instead of the pekwm ones I want to have.
It seems that the combination gnome/openbox seem to just work better if I'm not missing something important.
