[KDE 4.1] Are you application shortcuts working?

Keyboard shortcuts configurable in System Settings are woking just fine, but I can't fix the one set in Menu Editor. KDE understands my keyboard, because I can modify them without problems. Only when trying one — nothing happens. I am using Compaq Internet Keyboard layout, trying shortcuts with meta (win) key and I've copied whole config from .kde to .kde4.

Same here, could not find any help either online through google or the kdeforums.

I also don't see a way to get rid of shortcuts. For instance, I want to get rid of Alt-F4 closing a window. Anyone know where to find that, so I can set it to None?

Re: [KDE 4.1] Are you application shortcuts working?

I was able to get the shortcuts working in the menu editor.   here are the steps.

1.  I had to delete the global shortcuts (.kcrsc or something like that) file (it is in ~/.kde4/config/??????) // I will get the exact file name and location when I get back to my arch box.

2.  Add khotkeys as an autostarted progam

3.  Restart X

4.  Go to the menu editor and add the shortcuts

5.  Go to System Settings -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Keyboard shortcuts

6.  Change the dropdown to khotkeys

7.  Select the shortcuts that you just created in the menu editor (but in the khotkeys section) and change the shortcut to the default value.

8.  Enjoy the shortcuts

I am not at my arch box at the moment, so the locations might be a little off.  When I get my home, I will try to provide clearer directions.

EDIT:  This also works for the extra multimedia keys on my keyboard

One more thing....make sure you change you location from default to your actual location.

You do this System Settings -> Regional and Language
