that's ok ralvez, I like Arch a lot too.
But don't take that love too serious, I did that with Gentoo, and you know...
it just doesn't worth the value, they are just machines
Shh. Don't say that too loud. They're listening.

brauliobo,
I totally agree. I'm not fanatical about Arch or Operating Systems for that matter.
I however favour Linux above all others and if I cannot have Linux I'll take BSD or Mac as an option ... as a last resort I'll take Windows and believe it or not it is not about "I hate Redomond" is about my love for the Unix simplicity and stability.
Same with Arch... if it one day goes "way off" I'll go back to my roots: Slackware. I just love Arch's clean approach to design and maintenance of the OS and like everyone else's pacman
Cheers.
R.

brauliobo, the pkgbuild you provided here http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/11351
it is an old one?
my current xorg version is 1.4.2-1
and the pkgbuild is 1.4.0.90 ?
have you used abs?

luuciano, yeah i've just changed the abs' PKGBUILD to not apply the patches
Offline
brauliobo, thank you alot. I've altered the xorg-server-1.4.2 PKGBUILD not to apply the patches:
http://pastebin.com/m491aadc5
which makes KDE4 desktop effects using the OpenGL backend working (x86-64, catalyst-8.7).
The PKBUILD lists the patches in order, so anyone with time can easily tinker around to find out which patch breaks the OpenGL backend.
Best Regards,
-- Maik
Edit: PKGBUILD missed patches. New pastebin entry created.

My bad, I was just about to change the pastebin entry with all patches. See above. Please double check if I've missed one or if they are in correct order. Thanks.

The very first patch
- xorg-mesa-source.diff
seems to be guilty. Commenting it out makes the kwin4 OpenGL backend happy.
