Headphone Issue

Hello,

Normally I connect my speakers via the headphone output on my laptop.  This works fine in Windows however in Arch the sound still comes out of my laptops speakers as well as the external speakers.  I can't seem to fix this with the volume levels.  Any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: Headphone Issue

That file doesn't contain any settings, just the comments at the top.

Re: Headphone Issue

You might have multiple outputs on your soundcard. Look for exotic channel names like "Master Mono" and poke about for switches like "Headphone" and "Line Jack Sense" in alsamixer, gnome-volume-control or any comparable volume control.

Play around with any "interesting" sliders or switches with the headphones both unplugged and plugged in - before long you *should* find a configuration that detects that your headphones are plugged in and disables the speakers. I'd hope. tongue
