Kernel upgrade killed my audio

So, 2.6.25 worked like a charm, but both 2.6.26 and 2.6.26.2 don't.

That's basically it. Hardware is the same (02:0f.0 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies Inc. VT1720/24 [Envy24PT/HT] PCI Multi-Channel Audio Controller (rev 01)) with the same picky Chaintech ZNF3-250 motherboard, rc.conf is the same, user is in the audio group... But no sound. "No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found.", cries my volume control.

Downgrading back to 2.6.25 worked, but that's not much of a long term solution.

Any ideas?

What modules is your audio chipset using? If you do not know post lsmod.

Do those modules get loaded on 2.6.26.*?
