KDEmod legacy... wth is going on??

I have a Dell E1505 laptop with a bunch of difficult hardware, and I installed KDEmod legacy (pacman -S kdemod3), because I'd rather not have kde 4.1 just yet.

In order to start kdemod, I have to...

startx

then

cd /opt/kde/bin

and then run startkde.  Of course, it wasn't like that out of the box.  I went to all sorts of forums, and places, added lines to .xinitrc file or whatever it's called, no idea what I'm REALLY doing in the process.

So, then kdemod starts up.  Good.

Except it looks like somebody blended Vista with Windows 2.1.   I'm guessing that KWin crashes on startup, but KDEmod loads fine.  Making it very odd looking.

Oh, and I have no keyboard functionality for some reason (posting from another OS atm...)

Can somebody please help me?

Halp?  This is not making me a happy panda.

I can post pics (not screencaps mind you, but pics of the monitor itself) if it would help.

Looks like you didn't bother with your homework smile

Installation Guide

Don't miss on kdm3 thing. You normally have to put kdm daemon into /etc/rc.conf; now it's just kdm3.
