Might want to be more stringent with google ads.

I don't know if anyone else has been noticing this, but there have been some weird Google Ads on the site lately. Just now I saw one entitled "Pics of Girl Gamers", and yesterday, while I was at school no less, there was one that said, "Meet Gay Men Online (FREE)." I believe I remember hearing on another forum that the site admin has control over blocking some ads, and I thought it might be worth taking a look into.

Re: Might want to be more stringent with google ads.

Even google has problems sometimes.  I'm sure that these ads are not normal (I've not seen any).

Just in case examples are needed, here's a screenshot of a set of ads that I have seen at least twice now.

From what ornitorrincos says, I'd be more concerned on the why they think I might like to see that ad. big_smile

Nah, but seriously. It should be filed as a bug. The title should be: "Google Ad offers me gay men and gamer girls, is confusing which one to choose." lol

Re: Might want to be more stringent with google ads.

Just to defend myself, i'll quote the Google AdSense page:

Google wrote:

AdSense for content automatically crawls the content of your pages and delivers ads (you can choose both text or image ads) that are relevant to your audience and your site content

So I'd be more worried about what Google has found in the content of the site that means we would want to see these ads wink

But yeah, I'll file the bug this afternoon.

EDIT: Bug filed.

Hey, no one used my suggestion as a title to the bug report. It should be" "Google Ad offers me gay men and gamer girls, is confusing which one to choose."

I wouldn't believe it neither if I didn't know one myself. She also happens to be a hot blonde. And is a couple of years older than me.

So, resisting that must have meant that I am the best boyfriend ever! wink My girlfriend is so lucky but she doesn't even know it... big_smile

So what do we do about this? Try and confuse the program?

If you're using Firefox, CustomizeGoogle has options:  Don't send any cookies to Google Analyctics and Anonymize the Google cookie UID to "avoid the possibility of Google building up a cohesive profile about you."

NoScript works, too.
