If the svn stuff is the same as the google code stuff then yes I installed qsampler and most dependencies from there.

Ok, I got the lates of both rosegarden-1.7.2 and qtarctor-0.2.1
If you're not having this issue, then it must be the dssi. what version are you using?

Oh yeah,

I'm not using Qtractor and rosegarden is extra/rosegarden 4.1.7.0-1 [4.1.7.1-1 installed]

no luck man. I got the same thing and nothing. I don't know if KDEmod makes a difference. Actually it doesn't because 1.6.1 worked.
I do have vst support and using dssi-vst -0.7 on 32-bit system... I just don't get it. I have no testing or unstable apps...it's a fairly fresh install.
I'm now running rosegarden-1.7.2

I'm using Arch64 but it really shouldn't make a difference. My install is only about three days old. I wonder if the vst stuff is screwing things up for you. Of course reinstalling and setting up Arch again is probably not a very appealing thought for you but if you did it and just installed, rt kernel, qjackctl, whatever alsa stuff you need, rosegarden and fluidsynth-dssi, I wonder if the results would be the same as mine. There doesn't seem to be any other action on this thread so does that mean that everyone else's stuff is ok? Good luck and let me know how things turn out. At this point I'm sorry to say that I'm out of suggestions. If you think of anything that I can check for you about my installation, please post.

I'm using xfce4 without hal. Hal is installed but not started in rc.conf.

you and I are the only ones using rosegarden and I think the proaudio google code thing and this thread maybe be on a break as most of the guys are busy.

I got a few small drives here. I'm gonna install Arch on one but this time use kde4 from core and not kdemod and see what happens. I use KDEmod which is made only for Arch but is has been mod so who knows.

I completely give up dude. I've installed Arch on a different disk to see if it was the KDE version I was using but now, new headaches. Jack ain't working. Yeah, there is a solution at the bugfix site but as usual, these fixes work for everyone else but me...
I don't need the stress of getting Rosegarden or Qtractor to work. Seq24, Hrdrogen, Qsynth and Ardour will do. A bit of a pain due to resource but it works.

Hi Harv,

I understand. Right now the only other OS i can recommend for audio work is Sidux. They have a very good rt kernel and adding a couple of repositories gets you everything you need. I have everything for a DAW working well and it's basically high performance debian so it's easy to install things with synaptic. If you have a spare partition and feel like playing with it, just let me know if you have any questions.

thanx Bro. the only thing is I've tried almost every linux distro and Arch is my favorite. I tried the Ubuntu and the Debian flavors and that's even more frustrating. Debian flavored distros drive me up the wall. I got Ubuntu on my daughter's pc after trying Mepis, Linspire, etc., I said I couldn't fight with debian anymore. I know the repos got it all but they seem to be behind other OS.

I've heard great things about Sidux so I may give it a shot as I like the pain...

dude, I solved it. turns out to be the host name. I had to edit /etc/hosts by adding my pc name at the end like this:
127.0.0.1               localhost.localdomain   localhost    myhostname.
it all works now.

HOW DO I MARK THIS AS SOLVED NOW???

That's great and I never would have thought that that could cause the problem. I don't know how to mark it as "solved" though.
Maybe some nice experienced Arch user will let us know. I think you just change the subject line, but i'm not 100% sure. Anyway, congratulations.
