kdemod + Digikam

Using the current version of Arch.

First installed KDEMOD--no problems.
Next installed Digikam:  Pacman announced that a whole bunch of files were already present and declined to finish the installation.  I read up on the -f option---including the "not recommended" part---and finally tried it.  It did not report any errors but--when I restarted KDEMOD, it was glitched:  The panel was at the top and the panel configuration did not show the option to move it back to the bottom.

The problem was resolved by re-installing KDEMOD (leaving Digikam in place.)

Related question?:  I have heard that Arch periodically has issues with keeping all the mirrors in sync.  I have seen evidence of this:  Pacman sometimes cannot find a file, and I can resolve it by switching repos.  Somehow, i suspect this is relevant to my Digikam issue.
