root uid is 1000

Hey, I'm not sure of this but shouldn't my root id be 0 and not 1000?
my user id is 1000 but when I use Shaman, I get this:

Ok, streaming now the response
PAM Transaction inited successfully!
Authentication was successful!
Root Privileges granted.
Uid is: 1000

How do I fix that?

Thanx

Re: root uid is 1000

Set it to 0 in /etc/passwd then.

Re: root uid is 1000

shaman temporarily boosts to root privileges when necessary.  I think the Uid is 1000 is when it goes back to having the users permissions.

Re: root uid is 1000

then why when I use shaman to install a package, if fails with some aplm error:

Alpm Thread Waiting.

Releasing Queue Lock
Alpm Thread awake.
"error: failed retrieving file 'libgsf-gnome-1.14.8-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz' from mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca : File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access)

"
"warning: failed to retrieve some files from extra

Creating Committing Error

Yet, I use pacman from command line or yaourt and the package can be installed.

Am I setting up shaman wrong?

I also get this error message when running pacman:
sudo pacman -Sy
error: config file /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist, line 90: directive 'Server' not recognized.

this is line 90 in my pacman.d

Re: root uid is 1000

Umm are u in waterloo btw, i am...lol. Yea the csclub server is slightly outdated (i think), i havent really gone to them and asked them about it, i shd. So you will get errors abt files not being found cuz the are not there, dont use csclub server, i got errors when i used them too a lot of files were actually not there, i browsed to the ftp too. I know its sad i get 2-3 mbps dl speeds from csclub sad. Anyways, also try putting a '/' after i686 in line 90. check line 89 too.

Re: root uid is 1000

Warterloo started mirroring us about a month ago... our only Canadian Mirror.

Which really sucks considering the distro founder is Canadian. We need more patriotism up here, archers!

well spoken my fellow North Yorker. We do need more Canadian Mirrors. I thought we did about a year or so ago!
