I was attempting to do a system upgrade with Shaman, and it said there were 2 packages to upgrade: Gimp, from 2.46 to 2.47, and OpenOffice (to whatever the latest build is). The packages downloaded, but then Shaman got stuck on "processing dictionaries" or something like that. I let it do it's thing for 15 minutes or so, then decided it was frozen or something, so I cancelled the upgrade.
Now, whenever I try to open Shaman, I get "There was a problem while testing libalpm. Maybe another application has a lock on it." Also, pacman seems to have been disabled, because any command I issue is ineffective, meaning, when I type the command and press "enter," it goes directly back to the command prompt without doing anything.
I'm an Arch newbie, trying to like this distro, (you know I had to stretch myself to even get this installed!), but I'm stumped. Right now I'm dead in the water as far as upgrading or reinstalling anything, as far as I know.
Using 64-bit, KDEmod 4.1
thanks,

Check /var/lib/pacman for a file named db.lck if there is one and if you are sure, you have no package manager running, delete it.
