Hello,
I'm experiencing some strange behavior with latest i686 kernel (kernel26 2.6.26.3-1). The problem is that my two DVB-C cards aren't recognized or initialized correctly. From dmesg and lsmod I can see that modules are loaded, but the usual dmesg output is missing (it only says saa7146: register extension 'budget_av'.) and /dev/dvb isn't created.
Here is the strange part, when I boot to the x86_64 arch live cd cards are recognized and /dev/dvb in created. Same thing with ubuntu i386 live cd.
I also tried the other card on my workstation computer (running arch x86_64) and it worked. After some serious head scratching I compiled 2.6.27-rc5 with 2.6.26-ARCH's config file and it didn't work, but when I compiled 2.6.26 vanilla from some sort of default config I got the other card working (+many many errors while booting).
I guess there's something wrong in the kernel configuration in i686
Any suggestions where to start? Or should I just write a bug report (I hate registering new accounts that I know I only use once )

Thanks for your reply. I'm afraid I can't test it since my htpc is in "production" use already. I ended up building new kernel config from scratch. Now everything works just fine

Well I updated to 2.6.27-2 from the official repos. The problem can be solved by adding blacklist snd_aw2 to /etc/modprobe.conf.
Thanks to jordi for solving this.
