how to create a 43khz sound?

I realize I am limited by the range of my sound card (whatever that is).  Can anyone tell me a good way to produce a sound in the 43khz range?  I've used the 'beep' command, which has a limit of 20000 hz.  Any ideas?

Just use speaker test, which allows you to set it to whatever you want.

speaker-test -r 43000

Re: how to create a 43khz sound?

Hi,
google revealed siggen.
This is a set of tools for imitating a laboratory Signal Generator, generating audio signals out of Linux's /dev/dsp audio device.

Probably this is what you are looking for.

Altough keep in mind, that a sound of 43kHz is out of the human hearing range (20kHz upper limit and decreasing by age)...
and I am not sure, if this is healthy for "normal" speakers (also capped at something around 20kHz).

Best regards
