Wrong resolution in startup after upgrade

This seems like a common place, but I haven't found anything quite like my problem.

I was out of town for a couple of weeks, and yesterday I updated for the first time since then. Well, even before updating X wouldn't start, something that didn't happen when I left. I may have updated without rebooting, so I didn't notice it back then.

It complained about an option "RgbPath" that supposedly shouldn't be there. I found that weird and commented that option. Now X starts with the wrong resolution (800x600 I think) which also didn't happen when I left. Once I log in I can easily go to System Settings (KDEmod4 here) and change the resolution back to 1200x800. I'm using an up-to-date system and "intel" drivers.

Can somebody give me a tip here? hmm
