hibernate/suspend make 5 beeps

Hi.

I've got powertop, gnome-power-saver, acpi and acpid installed but when I try to go ahead and do a suspend or hibernate, the pc speaker shouts 5 beeps straight in a row.

Any Idea?

Best Regards,
Jorge.

Re: hibernate/suspend make 5 beeps

modprobe -r pcspkr

And then blacklist it, by adding !pcspkr to your MODULES array in /etc/rc.conf

Re: hibernate/suspend make 5 beeps

Is it gnome-power-manager you mean? That can give a beeping warning when trying to make Suspend or Hibernate when a program like ex. Rhythmbox (there might be others) is running and interfering with the process. Under "Preferences/General" there is an option "Use sound to notify in case of an error." If you disable the speaker you will not hear that sound.
