Second Life and Radeon HD 3800/4800 driver issue

Earlier this month, I tried running Second Life on Arch Linux (both 32-bit and 64-bit).  On both versions, Second Life was crashy, and I thought it was a bug between my computer and arch, so I switched back to using Fedora.  And then I found the same issue existed on it too, along with a conflict with SELinux.  Anyways, I tracked the problem down to a bug in the ATI drivers that causes instability in SL when using Radeon HD 3800 or 4800 cards.  Can anyone confirm if this bug still exists in the more recent drivers (assuming new ones have been released since then).  If so, I'm switching back to Arch.
