[SOLVED]Amarok doesn't load

Hey there,
As the topic says, amarok doesn't load. If I try it on the konsole it doesn't output any errors. I'm really not seeing what the issue is. I've tried reinstalling amarok, to no avail. I have the same issue as this guy, unfortunately, he chose to reinstall the system. I've installed amarok 2.0 beta1, and it has the same problem. I thought that it might have been a bug in the code of amarok 2.0beta1, so I unistalled and tried the /opt/kde/bin/amarokapp and the same thing happens.

Do other audio players work? Does sound work at all? Which desktop environment are you using? Which Amarok 2.0 beta1 did you install (there are multiple on AUR iirc)? Did you try compiling amarok from source?

I installed from aur. aplay works, sound works. I used this package to install from the AUR. JuK doesn't work as well WTF happened to my system???

Oh, and by the way, this is what happens after calling ps ax | grep amarok

[tiago@putchi-laptop ~]$ ps ax | grep amarok

To me, that doesn't sound like a general soundproblem, but it's rather the KDE4 audio applications that are giving trouble, or am I wrong? Are phonon/xine/gstreamer properly configured?

Define properly configured. I mean, I have xine as my preference, then gstreamer. I've tried to remove the ~/.xine to no avail. VLC works, kaffeine works as well. Are they using other software?

As far as I know, Amarok2 and Juk both use phonon, while Kaffeine uses xine directly (I'm not sure about VLC, but it won't use phonon). So I guess it's a phonon issue. Check your hardwaresettings in phonon and try using a different backend, such as gstreamer instead of xine. If you're using ESD, make sure to select it as your soundcard in your sound settings...

I've installed exaile and it works... I'm guessing that exaile uses gstreamer.
I don't see how can the xine settings be wrong, as I've deleted them. I gave preference to gstreamer on the system settings > sound. Still nothing. I'm going to try to reboot my computer, but I have little hope that it will work. What do you think I should do?

Oh, and I've deleted amarok 2.0, so I'm using amarok 1.4.9

Sorry, I can't help anymore, I'm out of ideas but I'm pretty sure your problem is phonon-related and not on xine's/gstreamer's/ALSA's side, as only KDE4 applications fail. The others (not using phonon) are working. I can only ask you to check your hardwaresettings for phonon again (the soundcards, not the backend) and if nothing works, file a bug report for phonon, Amarok or Juk.

But as I told you, I'm using amarok 1.4.9, and that's a KDE 3 app. It uses xine, not phonon. Besides, dragon works, and I think it uses phonon...

Sorry, I thought you switched to Amarok 1.4.9 as 2b1 does not work.

EDIT: Did you build Amarok 1.4.9 from sources?

Nop, I installed it through pacman. I've tried reinstalling and the problem presists

EDIT: I've just created a new user and I logged in with it and amarok started normaly! So it's definetely a problem with my settings, you were right.:) The question is:"Which app's settings are causing this?"
I've deleted .xine and ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok. What now?

Yes, there was. I've deleted it, still nothing. I'm starting to think that this might be something else other than the settings of amarok, because 2.0beta1 doesn't work(and they don't share the same settings). You said .xine, and it's already deleted. Nothing happens. Can you think of anything else?

I just thought of something... I'm going to pass one config file at a time to a new user, and see when amarok stops loading. Hopefully, I'll come up with an answer. Boy, it's going to take a while...

And I found it!!! The config folder causing the problem was .rcc. Does anyone know what configs does the folder hold?
