Firewall -> desktop

This is going to sound strange, but... Are there any firewall-oriented distros out there that can be turned into desktops? I've been looking about for a fast, hardened distro that isn't CLI-only, and I'm having trouble finding one...

Re: Firewall -> desktop

that pretty much goes against the definition of hardened.

more attack surface = less hardeds... hardenene...

hardenship.

As far as I know, if you want to go with security, OpenBSD is a good way to go, even though it is no Linux distribution...

Re: Firewall -> desktop

OpenBSD is secure, but unfortunately looks to have serious stability problems - there have been cases of stuff in userland causing kernel panics.

Perhaps I should broaden my question... What distributions (other than PLD and Frugalware) have grsecurity kernels in their main repos?

Heh, it sure will. The best answer so far, hands down. smile

Re: Firewall -> desktop

I'm poorly informed, but doesn't Fedora support SELinux and other security features right out of the box?

Also, why not just compile the kernel and whatever else you need on Arch? Are you worried about stability/interactivity?
