Asus A6R, Sb400, microphone

I have this "nightmare" from the very beginning of using linux on my laptop.
The problem is - i cant get my mic to work: neither built in, nor external.

I think ive tried everything i could find and i could do...
Everything work excellet - sound, video, wlan, touchpad... Except only one thing - microphone...

Re: Asus A6R, Sb400, microphone

at the end of the line in alsamixer you can change voltage.
use 2.25 V
mic start working.

Re: Asus A6R, Sb400, microphone

Now we got something.
Mic started to work, but with few thing:
setting V_REFOUT to 2.25v wasn't enough. So i played abit again with alsamixer and after setting Surround Jack Mode to [Independent] ive started to hear myself in my headphones... Just now the prob is - how to make it work as it should, i.e. not hearing myself talking.?

Re: Asus A6R, Sb400, microphone

smile not to hear yourself you need to mute in the playback smile

so we have same laptops. And i am interesting is you are experiencing any problem with usb bus?

history: unlucky me got an external creative 5.1 usb sound card. and already getting crazy with it.
it sounds. but after some time usb bus hangs - and all usb device refuse to work.
with "irqpoll" kernel option usb continue to work but sound still disappearing after sometime. sad

hope anybody know some workaround.

Re: Asus A6R, Sb400, microphone

with USB had probs only when trying SUSE - got random USB shutdown and only chance to make them work was Pc reboot.
In arch i have problems with random network device shutdowns and sound "hangs", which happens cause of ACPI as i found out.
adding acpi=off to kernel line in menu.lst of grub helps, but now i must push power button on my laptop after seeing "system halted".
Yesterday tried installing acpi4asus, got WLAN led to work but same network and sound fails, so still running with acpi=off.......
