Hello community,
I'm having trouble setting up my network properly. WLAN-Card is rt61-based and the Connection is WPA2-PSK encrypted.
I'm using NDISWrapper right now as well as on other distributions, too, but I'm willing to use a driver that probably doesn't crash at random times (that would be the rt61pci-driver in my case).
I already used the rt61pci and I can see my Acesspoint using iwlist scan. Unfortunately, I failed to set up the encryption. I found this http://dreamlinuxforums.org/index.php/topic,1680.0.html thread by using forum search (it was linked), but iwconfig doesn't really like WPA-keys, at least for me. I already consulted the wiki for further informations (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/RT61_Wireless), but the recommended package seems not to be available anymore.
Well, is there a possibility to use the rt61pci-driver with wpa_supplicant (which always worked great) or to set up encryption in another way? I get my IP using DHCP.
Any hints appreciated,
joe

Does it work if you remove the encryption?

Hello,

Actually, I didn't try this. I can see my accesspoint using iwlist with rt61pci-driver, so I guess it works. Turning off encryption would be a little problematic, but I'll try to make it.
Encryption doesn't seem to be the problem as I can stop wpa_supplicant without hanging. If
rmmod ndiswrapper
hangs, is an indicator of a freezing module. It doesn't really crash, every ping raises a timeout error, but not a connection error. I had the same problem on other distros as well, so I would rather have an alternative to ndiswrapper than spending years trying to fix an emulated driver.
