[Solved] rtorrent won't use .rtorrent.rc after update.

After upgrading rtorrent it will not tolerate empty lines in the .rtorrent.rc and it will not read my download directory or schedule directories.

At command line it says: rtorrent: Error in option file: ~/.rtorrent.rc:16: Junk at end of input.

Here's my .rtorrent.rc:

     # This is an example resource file for rTorrent. Copy to
     # ~/.rtorrent.rc and enable/modify the options as needed. Remember to
     # uncomment the options you wish to enable.
     # Maximum and minimum number of peers to connect to per torrent.
     #min_peers = 40
     #max_peers = 100
     # Same as above but for seeding completed torrents (-1 = same as downloading)
    #min_peers_seed = 10
     #max_peers_seed = 50
     # Maximum number of simultanious uploads per torrent.
    #max_uploads = 15
     # Global upload and download rate in KiB. "0" for unlimited.

    # relative path?
     #session = ./session

     # deleted.
     schedule = watch_directory,5,5,load_start=/home/edgar/*.torrent

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Build it using the PKGBUILD mentioned above and with the current version. Still don't work with .rtorrent.rc .. Very strange.

Dolby can I see your .rtorrent.rc ?

Ok.. It turns out that "./" is only viable way to define the home directory. So in order to define a download directory, one must write something like this: ./down

Perhaps this is obvious, then I learned something. wee!

./ is short for the current working directory, not the user's home directory.  Usually you use the environment variable HOME for the latter.

This is all very odd and might be an rtorrent bug.  There's no reason why it shouldn't handle absolute paths ...
