Gathering packets

Hello,

I am trying to collect packets by putting my card in monitor mode and using common tools, but my problem is no actual data is collected. All I get is broadcast packets.

I know I put my card in monitor mode correctly because iwconfig shows mode as monitor and I get some packets, but they are all broadcast packets.

I know it is not a problem with my card because , in the distro I had previous to arch, ubuntu, I had no problem collecting no matter the tool.

I know it is not the specific tools I use because I tryed both wireshark and airodump-ng and get the same symptoms, only broadcast packets, lots of broadcast packets.

I know it is not the specific network, because it is a high traffic network, and running wireshark on another laptop with Win xp gets plenty of data.

So I think i am missing some integral part of arch linux, I don't know what though.

Any help is appreciated

Re: Gathering packets

Maybe you should try posting this in the Networking sub-forum.  I'm not sure you're going to get an answer here in Newbie Corner.

Re: Gathering packets

And this has been reposted there (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=55717).  All replies to that thread.
