Looking thru my /usr/share/man & /usr/share/locale filesystems, i have numerous files and directories containing virtually every language in existance, and i only need English support. Are these really necessary and if not, why does Arch/DE's install them in the first place? I have tried out KDE & XFCE on a virgin install of Arch, so these would be the main culprits.
TIA

They may not be necessary to you but they will be necessary to people who don't use English for their locale.

Thanks for the reply. So, even if i'm the only user i still have all these language directories and files installed by default? Why do we go thru the locale setup during install if this is the case? Just curious.

The locale setup just tells the system which on of the files to use. It has no effect on which files get installed.
