VirtualBox share

I'm becoming slightly demented tring to get this working...

I have XP installed as a guest in arch but cant get them to share a drive.

I've specified the shared folder for the VM using the GUI with no joy and also tried with the terminal. Both of these seem to be working- the folder shows up in the GUI and the code was accepted in the terminal (not initally but eventually).

according to the maual this should be it (on the linux end) but it does not show up in the guest os.

Has anyone else managed to share between arch32bit and XP as guest?

With XP as quest, works fine. Did you have a look at wiki:

Re: VirtualBox share

I consistantly get problems with this also, trying to set up sharing there are these errors:

[chris@lucix86 ~]$ sudo /etc/rc.d/rc.vboxadd start
Starting VirtualBox Additions ...fail!
(modprobe vboxadd failed)
[chris@lucix86 ~]$ sudo /etc/rc.d/rc.vboxvfs start
Starting VirtualBox Additions shared folder support ...fail!
(modprobe vboxvfs failed)

Running the latest kernel in Core with latest virtualbox-ose.

Re: VirtualBox share

I am running the PUEL version. I did not run anything like vboxadd or vboxvfs. I just set a shared folder in the setting menu, after that, when I open the explorer, navigate to "My Network Places > Entire Network > VirtualBox Shard Folder" (not quite sure about the names of the places because I am using an English version) and the shared folder is there.

BTW, I do installed the guest additions in the WindowsXP guest machine, if that matters.

Re: VirtualBox share

Thanks for the suggestions:

@ rasat: Yeah, tried but to no avail..

@ luciferin You need to install the PUEL edition for sharing support etc. It's here in the wiki.

@ hk2717 & ukognos I've installed the guest additions and i have mouse drivers etc but no sharing?

I'll keep posted if anything else arises.
