No, that just shows my file system data, temps, cpu, memory and other info.
(I just now realized that I hadn't updated my conky to show my Vista partition since I re-installed Arch with xfce4 instead of gnome)

That's not what I meant.. I guess you don't have the same problem I had when I tried a vertical conky layout with desktop icons. If I clicked anywhere over the conky area, it would select my icons and drag them around.

I also noticed conky seems to transmit desktop clicks in a weird way if it has been started before Openbox. Simply adding a sleep before conky did the trick for me.

Remember the configs are for a 1280x800 screen, you will have to adjust the files for your screen size. I think the conkyrc/dzen settings might be little challenging to set up as they are very specific.

I'm sorry, I thought I had misunderstood your question..... I'm sorry for answering the question like you had no idea what conky was.
As for your problem with the icons, I have had strange icon issues that are different than yours. My issues have been that the icons have sometimes broke through Firefox on the left side, until I mouse over that section on the Firefox web browser then the page draws back over the weird see through part..... that happened a lot with xfce4 compositing.
@ Arkane:
I also run a conky sleep script so that it starts after compiz starts.
#!/bin/bash
sleep 5 && conky;
My results are that my icons seem very stable now.
Now if I move my mouse around the 855x200 conky area, "left clicking" that conky section like crazy, I did notice the icons on the left side sometimes change from a regular state, to the way it looks after they have been selected with one mouse click..... but they did not "move or drag around".

I just started it from a terminal with this config.. I was tweaking settings and killing+restarting conky over and over to try to fix it, but I never found a way.

Oh don't worry about it.. I know my question doesn't make much sense if you haven't seen the problem.

Yea that sounds similar, but on my system it was very sensitive. 1 quick click and it would drag an icon across the screen. I noticed it because I usually right-click and left-click in that area of the screen to open/close up the menu.. and every time I left-clicked, an icon would freak out.

Take a look at your .bashrc. Mine looks like this:
#alias ls='ls --color=auto'
PS1='$ '
You could use something like.. ehm:
PS1='\[\e[0;32m\]\u\[\e[m\] \[\e[1;34m\]\w\[\e[m\] \[\e[1;32m\]\$ \[\e[m\]\[\e[1;37m\] '

Thanks. The tray background is black because with some gtk themes (like this one) some icons will not go transparent, so I made the background the color the same as the background for the ones that are doing that.
