ghostview problem

when trying to run gv i get this error:

gv Error: incompatible resources.
One of the files
    /usr/lib/gv/gv_system.ad
    /home/vlad/.gv
belongs to an older version of gv and can not be used.
Please remove or update the outdated file.

anyone else has experienced this?

ps: i had no  /home/vlad/.gv file, but after (re)moving /usr/lib/gv/gv_system.ad, gv works again.
