Hi all
here is a problem that looks pretty tough.
I have installed this gorgeous HP J6480 all-in-one printer and printing and settings work fine. The problem is that there is no way in which I can control the margins - this means that everything I print is stretched too much and I end up cutting the top and bottom of every page.
do you guys have an udea on how to handle this???

In the CUPS interface under Printers-->Set Printer Options-->Shrink Page If Necessary to Fit Borders, I had to set the option to 'Shrink (print the whole page)'. That's the only way I've successfully got my margins to work properly.

that would be great but I don't have that f@@@ing option, damn it.
hpalign unfortunately only aligns the cartridges...
any idea on how to get that option in the cups interface?

I have the exact same problem.
I'm using an HP LaserJet 3P (old, from early 90s) and the margins look to be set at 0cm for all edges.
I can also confirm that there is no margin options in the CUPS web interface.
Is there any config file out there with margin settings? Hacking the ppd file?
I am reluctant to test with different drivers after the struggle to get this damn thing working in the first place
[Edit] I tried a different driver and it seems to work fine for now. I need to test further with something with known borders to see if anything is still being chopped off.

Don't now if it would be useful, but I'd got similar problem in samsung scx-4100. And to solve it I've just got to change paper size form letter to a4 in CUPS options.
