network setup problems : virtualbox

Hi,

I'm running VirtualBox on Arc Llinux 2.6.26-ARCH.
There is a nice web page at http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/VirtualBox.
I followed this document. But I have still problems I can not communicate between host PC and guest on a VirtualBox.

I used "Install VirtaulBox(OSE)" with DHCP NAT setup.

In the "Configuration" section, it describes the Arch way to set network up.
/etc/conf.d/bridges
/etc/rc.conf
/etc/vbox/interfaces

These modifications must be done on the host PC, right ?

I am also wondering one VirtualBox guest has an IP address 192.168.0.* instead of 10.0.2.0.
I afraid I set my environment up with some mistakes.
I have two NICs, 192.168.1.20 and 22 on the host PC.

Any suggestions to fix these problems ?

Thanks.

Re: network setup problems : virtualbox

hi, Junzo,

I suppose you are trying to have a Bridged interface so as to have a real private IP on your virtual machine.

For most uses that is noy necessary, but for several applications (FTP, P2P) a real IP is necessary.

If thats the case, you should install virtualbox_bin (its in AUR), not virtualbox-ose, which has some limitations.

The way I did it is in

It worked for me, but.. hope it helps you.
