Kernel panic: No init found Error, anyone have any ideas?

When you boot the computer, it gets to:

Mounting root filesystem
XFS: SB read failed
mount: error 22 mounting xfs
pivotroot: pivot_root(/sysroot,/sysroot/initrd) failed:2
Freeing unused kernel memory: 148k freed
Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel

Entering kdb

The computer is a HP workstation wx8000, its a server, dual 3.0 ghz xenons, two raid scsi seageates. The distribution is actually a GE proprietary linux distro of sorts.

I've check out the grub, it seems like I'm doing everything right. Anyone have any ideas? I'm dry.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

try add init=/usr/sbin/init

or boot from live cd, chroot to your system and reinstall initscripts package
