Nvidia video card fan speed

Hi,
Is there a way to pre-set the percentage of video card fan speed while X is loading using xorg.conf.  I seem to remember that there is and have searched the forums for more than an hour with no luck.

nvclock can do fan adjustments on some cards. I've never used that function so I'm not sure what it can do.

See my old script.

The fanspeed must adjust to cater for overheating. Which is what the script does.
