Can't seem to get Conky to run "own_window no" without desktop icons disappearing. Had this set-up running fine under Puppy Linux with both JWM and ROX. Perhaps it's something to do with this newer version of Conky?
Also, where is the proper place to start Conky? My ~/.xinitrc has the first line for starting ROX and the second for "exec jwm".
Thoughts?

I use xfce and my setup (at least the part that maybe will help you) is:
background yes
own_window yes
own_window_type normal
own_window_transparent yes
own_window_hints undecorated,below,skip_taskbar,skip_pager,sticky
double_buffer yes
draw_outline no
draw_borders no
draw_graph_borders yes
stippled_borders 0
border_margin 0
border_width 0
I have no experience with jwm/rox...
I start conky in my xinitrc, at the very end, just before starting xfdesktop and xfce4-panel.

@senjin
Thanks for the reply. My desire was to avoid the "own_window" configuration.
I've since dropped using ROX-PinBoard for desktop management and dumped desktop icons, too. Decided just to go minimalist.
I now start Conky from within my ~/.jwmrc file and all is well.
For anyone interested in more JWM-related forum chatter, brymway has started this thread in the Desktop Environments area.
