Hi
I am having this problem. Actually I do not know if it is proper to kde4.
When I plug my usbstick, I can copy directories to it but they are all empty.
If I want to delete files in the usbstick within dolphin, the first time "Delete" appears, but it does not delete. If I retry "delete", "copy", "paste" are unusable [I mean dolphin does not give you the possibility to use them].
Despite the fact that mtab shows that the usbstick is mounted in read-write mode, if I want to copy or delete the files through the console, it appears that the files are just read-only.
Please check if it works for you.
By the way, it does occur in 3 different pc's.
Thank you for your help
Serge

I am able to read/write from USB devices without issue in KDEmod KDE4 on Arch.
Are you mounting via fstab or via hald/D-Bus?

Hi pointone
I am mounting it via hald/d-bus.
If there is an entry for it in fstab, I won't be able to open it with dolphin.
/mnt/cd , mnt/dvd, /mnt/usbstick are not in fstab

Ntfs?

I had similar issue with my usb stick, but eventually it turned out that it was broken.

Hi Rasi
With kde3 it worked. Then I upgraded to kde4. I don't know if it is something specific to kde4 or there have been other upgrades [dbus, hal, and so on] which made this problem appeared.

I uninstalled kd4 and put kdemod4....
The problem remains...
But....
Under windows I found I have the same problem....
It means that the usbstick at this location is broken...
