Re: Xorg

you gotta have xorg 11R6.8 installed, and also install the xapps package. Then you can use xcompmgr -c  and transset .

Re: Xorg

have R6.8.0 and xapps installed, have configured COMPOSITE in server

trying to run xcompmgr -c it works and shadows look cool, as long as i do not move a windows, then it segfaults:

[damir@Asteraceae /]$ xcompmgr -c
error 3 request 20 minor 0 serial 9556
error 3 request 15 minor 0 serial 9557
error 3 request 20 minor 0 serial 9558
error 3 request 15 minor 0 serial 9559
Segmentation fault
[damir@Asteraceae /]$

i'm using xfce4 - maybe it's wm-dependend

anyone managed to have it working withaut segfaults?

Re: Xorg

it is wm-specific!!!!

it works with metacity (gnome):

metacityxorgxapps.png

but moving the transperent window is a pain, as rendering is horrible slow

with my nvidia card, and with this option:

 Option "RenderAccel" "1"

in the device section of my xorg.conf, moving the window isn't so slow...

Re: Xorg

Slow? What videocard (system)?

I know that my system won't handle that, but I thought I'd have transparency enabled by default on my new system.

Re: Xorg

if I uncomment this :

Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Enable"
Option "RENDER" "Enable"
EndSection

the flashes work just fine
