Re: How to modify resolution of xface4

If you don't have a xorg.conf then you shouldn't be able to even start X. Are you sure you don't have one? If not, what config file are you using to start X? You're not running X as root with the test xorg.conf in the /root folder are you?

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beg … Fxorg.conf
Make sure you followed that section of the beginner's guide more or less. Tell me where you're at.

Re: How to modify resolution of xface4

xorg doesn't require a config file for basic operation on most systems.  There are lots of ways to generate an X config to change your resolution, but this is one way:

X -configure

ArchWiki :: Xorg explains in detail how to set up X.

Re: How to modify resolution of xface4

xorg will start without a config file these days.  It will just autodetect the settings which will not be perfect.  Have a look in the wiki for how to create one and modify it to your demands.
