Re: problem with printer

what about  deleting everything on /var/spool/cups n' restart the service? And, what's your printer?

They say that if you play a Win cd backward you hear satanic messages. That's nothing! 'cause if you play it forwards, it installs windows.

Re: problem with printer

What about device permissions? I don't own a ML, but if it's applyable, does /dev/usb/lp0 have the right permissions?.

if it doesn't work, I would recommend to recompile the drivers of it. I've got an HP1018, which is quite sensitive to ghostscripts updates.

Re: problem with printer

If that were the case, I might recommend you to *wipe* all your printer configuration and its associated spool.
Acoording to your upgrade list, there is no package that might be conflicting with your installation. You might want to build your printer driver from the scratch. Why don't you download 'splix' from aur and modify it acoording to your needs?. Having a look at the source package might help to clear your doubts.

Re: problem with printer

I've deleted my printer from cups... and now the system doesn't find my printer on usb...
Why i need to build my printer driver from scratch? I installed splix pkg from arch's repository.

Thanks

Re: problem with printer

Same problem here with a Brother HL-2030, but I don't know if my issue is related to yours.

I get the following error at /var/log/kernel.log :

Oct 8 21:35:06 panecillo brcupsconfig3[10494]: segfault at 61363263 ip 61363263 sp bfea3980 error 4

Maybe your printer has a similar problem with its driver.

Re: problem with printer

segfaults means that your drive had crashed. In my case, I've experienced serious issues with my hp drivers. I had to build my own pkgbuild and problem solved.

@lordalbert: I guess your printer needs the firmware uploaded prior its usage. Thats why I recommend you to build the driver by hand and create a custom pkgbuild. I think that is the only way to understand how these things work.
