udevsettle: no such file & scim: launch failure

Dear Archers,

My recent upgrade to

Targets (8): udev-128-5 [0.20 MB]  initscripts-2008.09-2 [0.03 MB]
             klibc-1.5.14-1 [2.53 MB]  klibc-extras-2.5-1 [0.01 MB]
             klibc-kbd-1.15.20080312-7 [0.04 MB]
             klibc-module-init-tools-3.4-2 [0.03 MB]
             klibc-udev-128-1 [0.10 MB]  pptpclient-1.7.2-1 [0.03 MB]

Total Download Size:    2.96 MB
Total Installed Size:   15.54 MB

has caused:

1) udevsettle: no such file when unlocking my encrypted partitions
(root, home, and swap):

Unlocking encrypted volumes: home..sh: /sbin/udevsettle: No such file
or directory
ok swap..sh: /sbin/udevsettle: No such file or directory
creating swapspace..ok

2) scim: launch failure

foo ~  $  scim -d
Smart Common Input Method 1.4.7

Launching a SCIM daemon with Socket FrontEnd...
Loading simple Config module ...
Creating backend ...
Launching a SCIM process with x11...
Loading simple Config module ...
Creating backend ...
Failed to launch SCIM.

For item number 1, it seems the symbolic link from /sbin/udevadm has
been removed (please sea http://bugs.gentoo.org/236481 for details).

For item number 2, I would appreciate it if you could help me solve the
problem.

Thanks in advance.

Re: udevsettle: no such file & scim: launch failure

Re: scim crashes

I had been adding these lines to my .xinitrc, but after the upgrade
whenever I launched a program (rox, geany, emelfm2, etc), it loaded
very slow and then crashed.  What's more, my desktop then became
totally black without the wallpaper.

export XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM
export GTK_IM_MODULE="scim"
export QT_IM_MODULE="scim"
scim -d

I have compiled scim, but the new package crashes as well.

Any help would be appreciated!

Re: udevsettle: no such file & scim: launch failure

I have tried to downgrade klibc and relevant packages without success
because of dependency. Can I force the downgrade or shall I remove
those new packages first and then install the old ones (I have not
cleared the cache)?

Re: udevsettle: no such file & scim: launch failure

Have the same problem here with udevsettle,
but except from the messages at startup it seems that everything is working ok.

Dont know if i have to do something about it or just leave it that way???
