Reformat HD without reinstalling?

I would really like to reformat my HD. I don't like how long reiserfs takes to fsck when booting and I had used JFS before and liked it. I would like to reformat to JFS without reinstalling if I can. I have a 250GB HD

/boot is ext3 which I will leave alone
/ is reiserfs about 15GB
/home is reiserfs the rest of my drive

Would it be that difficult to do this?

Thanks

You can try this link:
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Convert_Filesystems

It's catered towards gentoo, but the basics hold for pretty much anything. Make sure to make a backup, if at all possible!

Re: Reformat HD without reinstalling?

tar your installation to somewhere writable medium. Format, untar, reinstall grub, chroot, mkinitcpio -p kernel26 and reboot.

Simple, uh? big_smile

They say that if you play a Win cd backward you hear satanic messages. That's nothing! 'cause if you play it forwards, it installs windows.
