Hello,
after today update (hal, initscripts, klibc, udev) I lost ability to automount USB devices in KDE (3.5.10).
Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks

I think this is the same problem. They solution was to simply restart the computer:

i do have such problem only with ntfs partition.
i already open a bug for this issue.
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

thank you for suggestions,
Restarting computer was the first think I did, when realized that automount is not working, but this did not help.
All usb partitions are FAT so either fs type is not related or these are two different problems.

I have the same problem here, external usb HD. I also suspect hal et al upgrade, but don't really know.

I resolved my problem a minute ago:
Installed previous version of udev and next upgraded again to the latest version. After rebooting, automounting works again.

I tried reinstalling the udev package and now NOTHING gets automounted. Not even CDs.
arch(3) adj amused because you think you understand something better than other people ;P

i tried downgrading udev. that didn't work. a reboot didn't either.
though a pen drive here automounts itself. the problem is with an external usb hard disk.

any solution yet? i miss the old automount days. manually mounting is a pain.

udev's got an upgrade, _maybe_ it would solve it (130). I'll edit here once its done downloading (OOo 3!) and after I reboot to see if my NTFS drives auto-mount.
Another solution to auto mounting ntfs drives is to use ntfs-config.
Edit: Udev's v130 update fixed my auto mount issues just fine.
