Hi.. wanted to give awesome3 a glance, but i am unable to configure it. whatever i change in rc.lua is ignored - it always uses stock config.
I even download gigamo's config files and placed it where it belongs:
[carnager@freebox ~]$ ls -l ~/.config/awesome/
total 68
drwxrwxr-x 2 carnager users 4096 11. Okt 15:19 layouts
-rw-rw-r-- 1 carnager users 15037 13. Okt 00:50 rc.lua
drwxrwxr-x 2 carnager users 32 11. Okt 15:19 separators
-rw-r--r-- 1 carnager users 839 10. Sep 09:04 subtle
drwxrwxr-x 2 carnager users 8 11. Okt 15:19 themes
rc.lua file is this one:

i disabled wallpaper setting in ~/.config/awesome/themes/default and rc.lua clearly is set up to use urxvt.
Still awesome uses xterm and tries to set a wallpaper - it gives an error: "Run blablabla to find out what went wrong". When i run that command i get no error at all.
Any clues?

If you want to use his config, you need these libs:

all i get is the wallpaper error and no hotkey work, i dont have an amazing bar, nothing...
and why is it trying to load 3 (!) rc.lua files.. and where is the /opt/kde directory coming from...

Are you using the git version? Looks like the method of defining mouse buttons has been reworked since 3.0.

As said above, are you sure you're running awesome-git and not awesome3 stable?

You probably don't have mpc since that's what he's piping.

Every single problem you've had up to this point was due to not having the right things installed, but if you're going to get an attitude about it....

Conky doesn't actually use MPC either, it uses libmpdclient to connect to mpd for the info. There is an lua mpdclient script on the awesome wiki too, if you want to use that method, instead of spamming mpc (which i find takes 2-5% cpu constantly here).
