is there any error messages when you start it from the command line?

I have been running it with kdesu for a while. I know I shouldn't, but it just didn't run any other way.

Hmmm... we had a problem with shaman not liking some qt/gtk theme before. Can someone report this as a bug to the shaman developers on their site.

Shaman only works if I try to open it as root. As a normal user it does not open and does not output any message.
Can you check if that happens to you too?

If i run shaman as root, this happens:
No protocol specified
shaman: cannot connect to X server :0.0
Run as normal user, nothing happens,

I am trying to find a reason but this one is weird... I am trying to check permissions to shared libraries, but no luck yet.

answer from one of users:
mv .config/Trolltech.conf .config/Trolltech.conf-back
it works on my machine :-)

Wow cool, this helps here, too!! Great!
And I also noticed: As long as I'm using "Oxygen" as GUI Style in qtconfig shaman won't start. But when I switch to "QtCurve" as GUI Style, it will start immediately...

I can also confirm the solution below:
mv .config/Trolltech.conf .config/Trolltech.conf-back
Who found that? How? That was.... brilliant.
The drawback is that now Qt 4 apps do not follow KDE fonts and themes.

I just realized this, but in that case I prefer not working shaman then all Qt4 apps without proper settings

I've tried doing the following thing:
sudo pacman -Rd qt
sudo pacman -S qtmod
after installing qtmod instead of qt, shaman works like a charm with oxygen style etc. It looks like there is something missing/bugged in Arch's Qt package
