I have gf fx5600, and in glxgears it give 2000fps. I think it too small. Or its normal?

It's not that bad, I think. I can get a little over 1000 fps with gf4 in 1600x1200x85Hz and a little more if I lower screen resolution. It seems that this also depends on the nvidia driver version. I observed that with last 2 versions performance of my gf4 dropped a little. Still I can play my favourite bzflag at very good speed :-) (60-90 fps) and 2D acceleration is very fine too IMO. Maybe there are also some other options for your card? Read the readme file from nvidia drivers and check your X log for messages about open gl.

Are you guys expanding these to fullscreen and then taking the measurement?
Offline
Of course not :-)
I prefer to see 1000 fps over 100 fps - it's more healthy ;-)
In fullscreen (maximized glxgears window) it drops to a little below 100 fps in 1600x1200 and gf4. It's still ok for me.

Downgrade nvidia driver helps, thnx . Glxgears fps stay on 2400, but in ut2004 and over games fps has increased.
PS: in fullscreen mode fps in glxgears is 240(1280x960).

I get 2960.
I have a GF4 4200.
I run 1280x1024x24bpp
At full screen I get 244.

Hmm, that's curious.
I've got a real old ATI Rage 128 card and get approximately 2600 fps (280 fps in fullscreen mode, 1280x960).
The processor is a K6-II 500MHz by the way.

What color depth are you running? If I switch to 16pp I get close to 5000.

16bpp. Still not bad for my old ATI.

I have an Nvidia Geforce2go with 32 mb video, and I only can get 200 fps..
I have installed NVIDIA drivers, but for some reason 3d performance is WAY better on Windows than in Arch. I.E. I can play Gltron smoothly in XP whereas in AL is sloooooooooow ... any ideaas?

First check your x log if nvidia hardware acceleration is enabled properly. If you have mesa package installed you should probably remove it and reinstall nvidia drivers.

Ok now I can get 1200 fps! . I built a custom kernel in order to be able to use NVAGP.
But I still have the impression that is faster in Windows.... :?
