if you right-click on an application in the taskbar, are you supposed to get a context menu -- close, maximize, send to, etc.? i'm not getting one, and i think it would be very convenient to at least be able to close applications from there.
i don't know if i'm doing something wrong in my setup or configuration, or if it's not a feature. i asked on the xfce4 list but didn't get an answer. thx.

This feature will be implemented in the next version of XFCE4. So far I'm using alt+F4 to close my windows or just click the Close button.

I thought there was a plugin that implemented a taskbar in the toolbar (or however that thing is called) with those features. The standard taskbar is close to worthless, it just takes space.

yeah i find that too.. like 4 applications makes the taskbar rather cluttered.. i end up just dumping some apps in one of my other 4 desktops

I'm using the toolbar-taskbar plugin but no...the RMB has no effect on the window button.
The good thing is that there always is an alternative. You can either use taskbar or iconbox and you can even disable both of them and try sth that suits you. I think I'll try application called Skippy for my windows management.

IIRC, there were two taskbar plugins for the toolbar, one with and one without the feature, to complicate things even further.
Oh well, there'salways that plugin that gives a button on the toolbar which popups all tasks, where right clicking works (sort of vertical taskbar).
