Since kernel2.6.26 the wifi LED light is supported on iwl3945/4965. And that's great!
But is it on purpose that the developers has made it blink when there's traffic on the network? I've read the release note(http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/g … 5dba693983), but I can't really understand what it says.
Could someone please read it and explain to me if the blinking is a bug they are planning to fix or do they see the blinking as a tool to see if it's traffic over the network?

That brings it on par with the Windows driver for 4965 at least.
I'd say not a bug -- more of feature parity.

OK, thanks.

Mmm, well, I find it a bug. The LED sits in a button right above my keyboard, so this is some bad visual noise if you ask me. Problem is that the ipw3945 daemon is a bit buggy in a different way. It just drops and re-establishes connection continuously. If someone can find a way to make the LED just stop blinking, I owe them a beer. Or a coke if you have not reached the legal age for alcoholic beverages.

Alrighty, this is solved, more or less.
A bit of googling gave me this: http://blog.drinsama.de/erich/en/linux/ … nking.html
Since it is based on a debian way of working with ifup / ifdown, I had to find another way. I honestly have no idea if / how Arch launches scripts before / after bringing up an interface. Anyone who can enlighten me on that, please do.
What I did was create the script in /opt and set wicd to call it when it connects to my home network. It would be nicer if I could get this to work for every connection that is made, but for that I need to know where to look.

netcfg will run scripts before/after bringing up/down a network profile. You specify them with (if I remember rightly) PREUP=script, POSTUP=proscipt..

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Does this actually work for you? I'm unable to modify the trigger file at all with kernel 2.6.27
