Ok, I'm using the 0.7 beta 1 ISO. I like to do the ftp install (easy update). Everything went fine until the kernel install. Here, it said something realted to a temp directory not being found, and then it would tell me the kernel failed. If I do a CD install it works, but then all the filesystems die after reboot. NOTE: this is my 9th arch install, so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing.

i just submitted a bug report on this issue. To correct it just create "/mnt/tmp" directory and you will be able to complete the install.

Anybody having trouble with empty conf files with the .7 iso?
Running an NF3 250GB chipset (onboard SATA)

empty conf files are usually a result of not properly completing the partition creation/mounting section or backstepping at some point during the install (by backstepping i me going back to correct/do something).
your only recourse is to restart the install process from scratch.

Or not editing the config files (even if editing just means opening them, saving, then quiting).

i understand that this is a really-straith-forward-installer, but this is a weakness of it: doing something in a chain and failing at step 11 means, that you have to repeat 10 steps to correct it :-(

hmm, apparently, almost all of the programs in the base need a /tmp folder(not surprising), got to keep that in mind next time

This is fixed in pacman 2.9. FTP installs should work again.

I mean, they were empty when I went to edit them from the arch menu system. I will try again tonight.
No, the partitioning was just peachy.
