Has anyone had any problems accessing a USB HDD since the kernel update. lsusb shows the device, but it is not listed in /dev. Also getting the same message repeated over and over in /var/log/messages.log. This is a problem on both i686 and x86_64.

Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem.

Not had time yet this week as busy with work, but I'm going to rebuild the kernel over the weekend and see if that fixes the problem. It's definitely a kernel issue as the problem exists with both the i686 and x86_64 builds. Whether or not it's an Arch specific thing I don't know, I don't have any other distributions to test with. See what happens with the vanilla kernel.

Same here! Using Kernel 2.6.27.6-1. As I saw in some Ubuntu-Bug-Reports, this error can be fixed with some tiny changes of the udev-rules. But I can't figure out, how to translate the Solution posted there for my Arch-System.

Some solution in sight?
