I know there must be a simple answer to this, but I haven't had any luck in my searching...
Is there a linux application that can be run from the command line to capture images from the webcam? I'm developing a few anti-theft scripts for my laptop, and I'd like something that can run from a cron job, or in the background upon boot or after certain events occur, that will activate the webcam, snap an image, which I can then wrap a script around to send the image off over the wire to an undisclosed location.
I've looked at ucview, skype, kopete, and a few other applications, but I haven't yet found anything that can be run from the command line to just snap a photo. All the applications I've seen are GUI-based apps that require some sort of user interaction. Any ideas?
thanks in advance
