Hi,
I can't manage to install the JDK 1.3.1 (Sun) on Archlinux 0.7. The install program fails and can't unpack the archive. The Blackdown jdk fails to install too.
I know j2re/j2sdk 1.4 are packaged on Arch, but i specifically need a working 1.3.1 version on this box.
Can you help me?

You probably need to run the installer as root, small chance that it's smart enough to let you choice where it puts its stuff.

I should have given more details . The error shows up whatever your login.
The .bin installer displays this error:
tail: cannot open `+286' for reading: No such file or directory
I believe this is related to 'head' and 'tail' syntax changes. I think this installer can only work on platforms older than Archlinux.
As i fear linking problems with gcc 3.4 i wonder if i can ever manage to have the installer work. A better way to have things work could be to use a chrooted older Linux.
Is there a standard Arch program to install an older Archlinux version in a subtree? I tried Archbootstrap as found in the forums, but it did not work for me.
