Re: October 2008 Screenshots

I went and switched my whole install around over the past few days.  Dumped GNOME and picked up Fluxbox.  The new hottness:

I need a sorted list of all random numbers, so that I can retrieve a suitable one later with a binary search instead of having to iterate through the generation process every time.

Of course:

double_buffer yes
alignment top_left
gap_y 24
use_xft yes
font clean
default_color 7f7f7f
TEXT
${exec pstree}

Kde4, nothing really innovative... inspired by a wallpaper seen (and stolen) in this topic:

2954217293_4dcc2a92e9_m.jpg

- kde4
- plasmoids on desktop: weather, notes, file manager, fuzzy clock, clock
- plasmoids on panel (ok, panel itself is a plasmoid): application launcher, command watch etc etc..

- kopete
- gwenview
- dolphin

Plasmoid theme: elegant
Icon theme: oxygen refit black

I don't like KDE at all, but your desktop is really nice.

One of the best KDE desktop I've seen so far!

I guess it's been a while since I posted a screenshot, but that's because I'd been flipping between GNOME, LXDE, Awesome, dwm, and wmii with no success.

Many thanks to Arkane and the Eee PC layout for showing me a tiling wm style I can really work with. Also good to get back into XMonad, as that's what I had on the laptop before its death.

WM: XMonad
Theme: Clearlooks Brave Dark
Terminal: ROXTerm (just not a urxvt fan)

Music: Karkwa - Le Volume Du Vent, highly recommended

Basically I've just gone ahead and started using bits of GNOME (screensaver, I love that lock command), Xfce4 (panel, menu, thunar), and XMonad. I wasn't really happy with any of them on their own, so instead I've constructed the Frankenstein DE, perfect for October and Halloween, and it does exactly what I want it to.

vim? EMACS? Pssh, I code in Scribus.
