Boot Loader

I installed grub but now I get an error starting grub and I installed arch on hda2 and windows is hda1 and swap hda3 and the following is my grub file thing what do I need to change and how do I add windows? I read that installation guide but I still don't know what to do somebody please help.

strange, isn't Grub using stage 2 for pc's?


arch + gentoo + initng + python = enlisy

I've read a little in Grub manual,

it looks like it(sometimes?) use stage 1_5 to load stage 2

->1->1_5->2

I don't know why it can't find it...


arch + gentoo + initng + python = enlisy

Are you talking different partitions or different drives?

My laptop has a single drive with different partitions.
Windows is the first, 2nd is the swap, and 3rd is Arch.  Here's my grub config:

# (0) Arch Linux
title  Arch Linux
root   (hd0,2)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/discs/disc0/part3 ro

# (1) Windows 2000
title Windows 2000
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1

Assuming you're using the 2nd partition for arch, yours should look like the above... the only difference I see is the devfs=nomount

If you're talking different hard drives though... then the root for arch linux should be :

root (hd1,0)

and not

root (hd0,1)
