Hi, I'm in the progress of building my own 'DE' based on compiz fusion, a panel and systray that I still need to decide on (pypanel,tint2, ...), etc.
But one thing I cannot seem to find is a script/tool to autostart applications in an xdg compliant way (using .desktop files in /etc/xdg/autostart/ and $XDG_CONFIG/autostart). Does anyone know of an utility that does just that?
I wouldn't mind writing my own implementation (in sh or something) but if it already exists, it would be nice.

I couldn't find anything so I started writing my own script for it. See http://github.com/Dieterbe/dautostart/ Note: it doesn't work yet! :-)

Now it works. At least for me

Note for you, neither PyPanel nor tint work with Compiz's effects in my testing (window preview image)
Avant Window Navigator works, though.
Good luck!

D'oh..
just found out that Openbox comes with a tool called 'xdg-autostart' which is almost exactly the same as dautostart, but written in Python...
Oh well, I'm gonna keep using dautostart, it works for me
